Alexander Paley, who was born in Moldavia in 1956, brings to Chopin a calm and even-tempered approach. Although these are certainly virtuoso showpieces, Paley does not use this opportunity to show off. These are inner-directed and contemplative performances. The demands of the music are securely met and dealt with. The full range of the musical poetry of the Blüthner Grand is ideally suited to capture every nuance Paley brings to his performance of these popular works by Chopin.
